Strange things happen to jewelry designers.
While window-shopping yesterday at a local shopping mall, I was tapped on the shoulder by a lady who was curious about the earrings I was wearing.
She cautiously said "Those are very interesting earrings". Immediately she caught herself and added "my daughter would like something like that".
I smiled at her, thanked her and proceeded to explain that those were handcrafted earrings. Her eyes got wide and she exclaimed "Great! Does that mean I can purchase them from you right now?" ... now this really took me by surprise as I was wearing them at the time.
I explained to her that the earrings I was wearing were not for sale but freshly handcrafted earrings were available for sale on my website. Without paying much attention to what I was saying she quickly asked me if the earrings were as light as they looked, before I could respond, she asked "Can I try one on?". I was truly not ready for such request, yet after a minute, I carefully took off one of my earrings and put it on her hand for her to feel the weight. She immediately put the earring on, she searched for the nearest mirror and started to dangle her head to see how they looked on her. A quick "Yes!" came out of her mouth. I was there a bit speechless ...
She took the earring off, requested my business card thanked me and left.
I was left there with one earring on my hand and the other on my ear... completely baffled. I took the second earring off my ear and put the pair on my purse.
This morning I woke up to the nicest email and one order for 5 pairs of retro earrings!
