Just as any other special Holiday event in our lives, where we give gifts of Love and Friendship, the Chinese New Year celebration is no exception. During this special event it is customary to exchange gifts. There is an ancient Chinese custom which has a great importance, it is called Hong Bao. This custom involves giving small red packets with "lucky money". Married couples and elder people give these hong bao to kids and un-married young people to wish them blessing and well-being.How much to give? No worries, this celebration is about good-will. Some good advice provided to me was to give amounts matching number "8" ( fa ). The reason?, well it sounds like "get rich" in Chinese :)
Other pretty little gifts? Well, sure!
If you want to give a little something to your friends and kids, how about a pretty set of earrings. We have a set of earrings especially made for this event, they include coins, dragons, all displaying brilliant touches of red. In Chinese culture the red color is predominant as it is considered to bring good fortune. Choose our small designs or maybe a bold and large one, and guess what? They all have "8" in their price ... nifty, huh?
So, what do you say? It still possible to be the Santa Claus of Chinese New Year!
